Anthony M. de Beus, Ph.D., M.D.

Anthony M. de Beus provides care for diseases of the retina, vitreous and macula, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular puckers and holes, vascular occlusions, retinal detachment and uveitis.

Anthony M. de Beus is a board certified ophthalmologist who completed a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and an ophthalmology residency at the Duke University Eye Center.

After receiving his undergraduate degree at Yale University and working in an engineering firm, he earned a masters in biomechanical engineering at Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in biomathematics from the City University of New York. He received his medical degree and completed his internship in internal medicine from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Hospital in New York. Dr. de Beus's research interests include the application of mathematics and engineering to medical problems. He has presented his research at national meetings, has participated in clinical trials and has published in the peer-reviewed literature.

Professional memberships include the Phoenix Ophthalmological Society, Arizona Ophthalmological Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Medical Association. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. de Beus is licensed in Arizona and California.

Dr. de Beus was born in Antwerp, Belgium and lives in Phoenix with his wife, Kimberly. He speaks some Spanish and French. Their children and families live in Phoenix and California.
