Paul Holland, O.D.
Dr. Paul Holland is an optometrist with special interest in primary eye care, ocular disease, diabetic eye disease and public health. He joins the Southwest Eye Center team from the U.S. Public Health Service where he practiced hospital-based vision care for 23 years.
Dr. Holland received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a doctor of optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. He received a master's degree in Health Services Administration and Policy from Arizona State University in 1995. Dr. Holland served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service from 1979 to 2002 with duty stations in Louisiana, Arizona, Nevada and Montana. For most of that time he also served as an adjunct clinical professor for the Southern California College of Optometry.
Dr. Holland is licensed to practice Optometry in Arizona and California. He is licensed in Arizona in the use of topical and oral therapeutic medications related to the care of the eye. He has been a long-standing member of the American Optometric Association and the Armed Forces Optometric Association. Dr. Holland has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1997.
Dr. Holland has a strong interest in public health and is an active member of the American Public Health Association. Much of his interest is in diabetes eye care and he has served as a volunteer on advisory committees with the Indian Health Service, the American Optometric Association and the Centers for Disease Control.
Dr. Holland and his wife Jane live in Sierra Vista. They enjoy hiking, biking, backcountry skiing and sea kayaking.
