Carolyn J. Martin, O.D.
Dr. Carolyn Martin is a residency-trained optometrist who provides comprehensive optometric care. Her educational background and experience working with ophthalmology have fostered her special interest in the management of ocular disease.
Dr. Martin received her B.S. in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned her Doctorate in Optometry and a Master's degree in Vision Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She extended her training by completing a Residency in Hospital-based Optometry and Ocular Disease at the Albuquerque Veterans' Administration Medical Center.
Dr. Martin's extensive professional experience began in Denver at The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. She then returned to Albuquerque as the Director of Optometric Education at the VA Medical Center. There she also served as adjunct faculty for several Schools and Colleges of Optometry around the country. Years later, she further expanded her experience in ocular disease management by becoming a pre- and post-operative care provider for the largest ophthalmology practice in New Mexico.
Dr. Martin is licensed to practice in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Consultant to the Council on Optometric Education, a clinical examiner for the National Board of Optometric Examiners, and a member of the Arizona and American Optometric Associations. She has published papers, given lectures, and been an investigator on several large clinical ophthalmology trials.
Aside from her love of eye care, Dr. Martin and her husband enjoy hiking, golfing, skiing, and traveling.
