Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery is designed to improve the function or appearance of the eyes or eyelids. Blepharoplasty is the most common eyelid procedure that removes excess tissue from your eyelids, to restore a more rested, natural, youthful appearance to your eyes and face.

The procedure consists of the doctor making incisions that follow the natural lines and creases in your eyelids. Then the excess tissue is removed to achieve a better shape. The incisions will be sutured, leaving hairline scars that begin to fade in days. The procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis, under local anesthesia. It could take anywhere from one to two hours. You are likely to have more than one follow-up visit with your doctor. Occasionally, a second minor procedure may be required to remove more tissue.
