Michael Stagner, M.D.
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Stagner is a board-certified ophthalmologist with 27 years of experience in private practice settings, 20 of those years in Arizona. He has extensive experience in both the surgical and medical aspects of ophthalmology, having performed over 10,000 successful procedures.
Dr. Stagner obtained his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and worked in engineering for 11 years before beginning medical school. As a junior engineering student, he was elected to the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society in 1973. He began medical school in 1985, graduating from the Creighton University School of Medicine in 1989, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1988. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center in Portland, Oregon in 1990, and ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland in 1993.
Dr. Stagner enjoys being in a helping profession, which was a major motivating factor in his decision to switch from engineering to medicine, and enjoys his interactions with his patients. Between his second and third years of medical school, he spent the summer working with migrant workers in Torrington, Wyoming for which he was given a Commendation by the American Medical Student Association.
In his leisure time, Dr. Stagner enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and photography.
