Eye Exams
Comprehensive eye exams help evaluate your vision, eye health, and risk for common eye conditions. An eye exam may include checking your prescription, evaluating how your eyes work together, and looking for early signs of conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other vision concerns.
Optical Services
Select Southwestern Eye Center locations include optical shops where patients can purchase glasses, lenses, and other eyewear after their exam. Having optical services available at the same location can make it easier to update your prescription and choose eyewear with help from experienced optical team members. Southwestern Eye Center’s location pages identify some offices as “Clinic & Optical Shop.”
Cataract Evaluations and Cataract Surgery
Southwestern Eye Center locations offer cataract evaluations for patients experiencing cloudy, blurry, or dim vision. During an exam, your provider can check for cataract development and discuss whether cataract surgery may be appropriate based on your symptoms, eye health, and daily vision needs.
Glaucoma Care
Glaucoma care focuses on detecting, monitoring, and managing damage to the optic nerve. Because glaucoma may develop without noticeable symptoms in the early stages, regular eye exams are important for early detection and long-term vision protection.
Retina Care
Some locations offer specialty eye care for retina-related conditions, including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal changes, and other conditions affecting the back of the eye. Patients may be referred to a retina specialist when advanced diagnosis or ongoing management is needed.
Dry Eye Treatment
Dry eye can cause burning, irritation, watering, fluctuating vision, and discomfort during daily activities. Select locations offer evaluation and treatment options for dry eye and ocular surface disease to help improve comfort and tear function.
Cornea Care
Cornea care may be recommended for patients with conditions affecting the clear front surface of the eye. Depending on the location and provider, this may include evaluation for corneal disease, irregular vision, or eye surface concerns, as well as surgical treatment options.
LASIK and Vision Correction Consultations
Southwestern Eye Center partners with Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center to offer LASIK or vision correction consultations for patients seeking to reduce their dependence on glasses or contact lenses. A consultation helps determine whether laser vision correction or another procedure is a good fit for you based on your prescription, corneal health, lifestyle, and vision goals.
Surgery Centers
Some Southwestern Eye Center locations are connected to outpatient surgery centers where certain eye procedures may be performed. Patients may visit one office for an exam or consultation and another location, such as a surgery center, for treatment, depending on the recommended care plan.
