Dr. Jennifer Murray is a primary care optometrist providing full-scope eye care with an emphasis in treatment and management of ocular disease, pre- and post-surgical care, pediatric vision care and comprehensive exams for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Murray was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology at the University of New Mexico. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., graduating with honors. She completed externships working with an ocular surgeon at a Mayo Health System clinic in Minnesota, with a refractive surgeon at Teplick Custom Vision in Oregon, at Pacific University and at the Fort Washakie Indian Health Clinic in Wyoming. In addition to four years of private practice experience, she also spent three years working at a rural Indian Health Clinic on the Navajo reservation, where she gained experience in ocular disease and trauma.
Dr. Murray is licensed in New Mexico and Idaho and is certified in the use of topical and oral medications as they relate to eye care. She is a member of the American and New Mexico Optometric Associations and BSK, an optometric honor fraternity. She has also participated in providing free eye care through VOSH mission trips to Mexico and Honduras.
Dr. Murray is married to Dr. Brian Petracca, a fellow optometrist, and they have two young daughters. She recently returned to live in Las Cruces, N.M. She enjoys traveling, outdoor activities and spending time with her friends and family.
