Clinical Expertise

Dr. Colmenares is passionate about providing comprehensive eye care with a focus on the treatment and management of dry eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. She also has extensive experience in urgent and emergent cases, as well as pre- and post-operative care.

Education and Medical Training

Dr. Colmenares grew up in Northern Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She went on to attend Midwestern University College of Optometry, where she was active in the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and the Lions Club.
Her clinical training included externships at the Memphis VA Hospital, Cool Springs Eyecare in Franklin, Tennessee, and Bowden Eye Center in Jacksonville, Florida. She further advanced her expertise through an ocular disease residency at Virginia Eye Consultants, managing complex medical and surgical eye care cases.

Accolades

Licensed by the Arizona State Board of Optometry, Dr. Colmenares is certified in the use of topical and oral therapeutic medications for eye care. She is also a member of the American Optometric Association, the Arizona Optometric Association, and the Virginia Optometric Association.

Personal Interests

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Colmenares enjoys hiking and exploring new restaurants with her fiancé, Luke, and their Golden Retriever, Scooby.
