What Is The Light Adjustable Lens?
The Light Adjustable Lens is an advanced cataract lens implant that can be adjusted after cataract surgery. Like other intraocular lenses, it replaces the eye’s natural lens after a cataract is removed. The difference is that the LAL is made from a photosensitive material that responds to carefully controlled ultraviolet light.
After your eye heals, your surgeon uses a specialized office-based device, the Light Delivery Device™, to make planned adjustments to the implanted lens. This process allows your cataract surgeon to refine the lens power after surgery rather than relying solely on preoperative measurements.
