-
Age (you must be at least 18; ideal candidates are typically between 18 and 45)
-
Corneal thickness and shape
-
Overall eye health
-
A history of eye diseases or previous eye surgeries

Best LASIK Alternatives
Refractive Lens Exchange
Refractive Lens Exchange surgery (RLE) is performed similarly to cataract surgery. The natural crystalline lens is removed and replaced with an Intraocular lens implant, or IOL, during the procedure. The only difference is that the natural crystalline lens has not yet developed or has not fully developed cataracts. After getting RLE, you will also never have to undergo cataract surgery.
EVO ICL
EVO ICL, an Implantable Collamer® Lens, is a refractive implant used to correct common vision issues like myopia (nearsightedness) with or without astigmatism. Unlike LASIK, the EVO ICL is an additive technology that corrects vision without removing corneal tissue. This can be especially beneficial for those not candidates for LASIK due to thin corneas.
PRK
A great alternative for patients with thin corneas or active lifestyles. PRK reshapes the cornea without creating a flap, making it ideal for military personnel, athletes, and others with high-impact jobs.
