When I first began researching LASIK for my 56 year old eyes I found lots of testimonials from customers but none that discussed their results a few years after the surgery. I had great faith in Southwestern Eye Center that I went forward with the LASIK treatment anyway and I have been very happy!! The results still amaze me! How is it possible that a I had been wearing glasses since age 13 to correct my astigmatism and nearsightedness?
In all these years I would never have ventured out driving without my glasses or contacts in. But today, I can see far away scenery perfectly clear without any lenses! I still find myself asking,"How is this possible?"
I was warned that I would lose my ability to read a book without glasses--probably the only luxury that us nearsighted folks had. I would need to use reading glasses--just like most of the older people I know. Actually, my optometrist was pushing me towards bifocals or trifocals anyway--awkward and expensive glasses. But this was a bargain worth making. Now I buy 1.25 strength readers and stylish polarized sunglasses at the Drug Store (instead of clip-on flip-ups--oh how I miss those!). Life is much simpler without needing distance correction glasses or contact lenses that dry out and fog up.
Three years after getting LASIK I highly recommend it for others. I waited to look into LASIK for too many years. What are you waiting for?
PS: You may be wondering why I came to Southwestern Eye Center in Phoenix all the way from New Hampshire. Why? Expertise, experience and good value. My 89 year old parents both had significant eye surgeries done at your affiliated clinics and they were very happy with everything. Plus I saved money on the LASIK compared to normal prices at clinics in New England.
I am a college student and with all the studying and reading I was having to do for hours on end, my contacts would dry out and leave my eyes feeling very irritated and tired. Since having LASIK eye surgery, my eyes feel so much better and it makes school and studying much easier for me. It's also great to be able to jump in the pool anytime without having to worry about my contacts!! I am very happy with the results of my LASIK. My vision is excellent and I am glad I didn't wait any longer.
I chose the Monovision option, (correcting one eye for distance the other for near) and am very grateful I did! For the first time in twenty years, I can see beautiful landscapes and fully enjoy skiing, scuba diving, and other sports without needing glasses or contacts! It is a life changing experience, and I would have done LASIK surgery even if it meant having to use reading glasses. However, with Monovision, I can also read and see close without glasses. My wife, who can see far, but struggles sometimes to read, is now asking me about Monovision. The Southwestern Eye Center staff was wonderful and very patient with my various request to try all the different options.
Time and patience in your explanations was the biggest factor in my being comfortable in the office. Everyone had answers. Dr. Campion is by far the most helpful and thorough of any doctor I have encountered in Arizona.
After seeing the excitement of LASIK patients first hand, their clarity of vision and the ease of recovery, I decided to undergo the procedure myself. It is clear to me now. No lens cloths, no solutions, no squinting. It's amazing what I can see with my own two eyes.
Best thing I have ever done. I would do it again tomorrow if necessary.
From my first consultation to my post operation follow-up, Dr. Campion and his staff were able to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. They thoroughly explained all the questions that I had and the LASIK procedure was quick and painless. I'm extremely pleased with the results.
