The eyes are the window to…the pancreas?

Good news for diabetics and the doctors who treat them. Researchers from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden have developed a way for doctors to actually see what the pancreatic cells that produce insulin are doing in the body. By placing cells from the Islets of Langerhans, the part of the pancreas that makes insulin, into the eye of the patient, the doctor will be able to look into the patient to see the activity of the pancreas that would normally not be visible.
