Dr. Schaffer graduated summa cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, prior to completing his medical degree at the Albany Medical College in New York, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He is one of a select group of eye physicians that has also completed a residency in Internal Medicine, providing a firm background in the medical conditions underlying many eye disorders. Dr. Schaffer was also selected by the senior faculty at his residency as the Chief Resident in Ophthalmology in his final year of training. He was a full Commander in the United States Uniformed Services and is proud to be a veteran. Following his three-years of uniformed service, he commenced the practice of ophthalmology in the valley in 1994. His practice focus is comprehensive ophthalmology, with an emphasis on premium cataract surgery.
